About
What is One Book, One Chicago?
One Book, One Chicago cultivates a culture of reading in our city by reinforcing the importance and fun of reading and highlighting the benefits of reading together as a community. Twice annually—once in the spring and again in the fall—a book is selected and promoted to all of Chicago. Discussions of the selected book take place in more than 50 library locations as well as outside locations, and several public programs are created to further enrich the experience of reading the book.
What is YOUmedia?
YOUmedia is an innovative, 21st century teen learning space housed at the Chicago Public Library’s downtown Harold Washington Library Center. YOUmedia was created to connect young adults, books, media, mentors, and institutions throughout the city of Chicago in one dynamic space designed to inspire collaboration and creativity. Who made all of these digital pieces?
All of the work on this site was created by YOUmedia high school students from the Chicago area. These pieces are all based on or inspired by Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. All the work you see on this site is in different stages of development. Some pieces are first draft, brainstorming exercises, etc. In this way you can see a student’s development of storytelling technique and style over time.
